SCRANTON -- Bishop Emeritus James Timlin marked a milestone on Wednesday.

It was on this day back in 1976 when he was ordained a bishop.

A Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated Wednesday afternoon at St. Peter's Cathedral on Wyoming Avenue in Scranton.

Bishop Timlin became the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Scranton in 1984. He retired in 2003.

He turned 89 years old last month and still continues to celebrate Masses.
