CLARKS SUMMIT -- Police in Lackawanna County are investigating a robbery Tuesday afternoon.

Officers say an elderly woman had her purse stolen right in her driveway.

The robbery happened in a neighborhood off Route 407 in Clarks Summit around 1:30 p.m.

The woman told us she was out running errands. She stopped at the ATM for cash at PNC Bank on Northern Boulevard near Clarks Summit, then she picked up lunch at Burger King.

As she drove back to her house less than a mile away, she noticed a white car following hers. She thought her granddaughter must have ordered a pizza so, when the white car parked behind hers, at first she didn't think anything of it.

But then, she says a young man ran up to her, pulled her purse from her hand, then took off back toward Northern Boulevard. The woman suffered some bruises but is mostly just scared, worried she had been targeted during one of her two stops earlier in the afternoon.

The victim told police that the robber was very thin with short sandy colored hair and he was wearing a red t-shirt.
