DUNMORE -- It might not be the thing you expect in "Buck County," but a nittany lion bench is a new centerpiece for downtown Dunmore.
"Promote some Penn state pride in our community," said Matthew Nied of Penn State Worthington Scranton. "There's a lot of Penn Staters in the Dunmore/Scranton area and we want to bring that back into our campus and into our community."
Alumni like Jerry Champi, the President and CEO of FNCB Bank. The bank's prime Drinker Street corner spot will be the new home for the Nittany Lion bench.
"Trying to give the Penn State Worthington Scranton campus some visibility in the community," said Champi. They've been part of the community for a long time."
Sophomore Sabrina Gray is one of the students who came out to celebrate the iconic bench.
"It feels like we're finally getting out into our community more than just as a place that not a lot of people know about," said Gray. "More people are being educated having Penn State actually here instead of at University Park in State College. It's actually right here in our backyard."
