PENNSYLVANIA -- When 42 thousand calls to the state abuse hotline went unanswered back in 2015, Pennsylvania knew some changes had to be made.
Department of Human Services secretary Ted Dallas announced Thursday that thanks to improvements made to Childline, the state's response to those calls is now significantly improved.
According to the department, the amount of calls that are abandoned or deflected is down to less than two percent.
Those numbers were able to be reversed with the introduction of new technology and the addition of staff.
"I can announce to you that we are performing better than ever. 100 percent of the clearances are done timely and instead of 26 days they are getting done in 1.6 days," said Dallas, following those improvements.
Secretary Dallas says with children going back to school the improvements are timely in Pennsylvania.
