SCRANTON -- A driver accused in a deadly crash on Interstate 81 in Lackawanna County has pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
Brandon Vansplinter pleaded guilty on Monday to homicide by vehicle while DUI and felony drug charges.
Vansplinter was behind the wheel in the crash in November 2015 that killed his passenger, Carly Otto, 26, of Dalton.
Investigators say Vansplinter was high on heroin and Xanax when he slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 81 north, near the Clarks Summit exit.
He faces three to 15 years in prison when sentenced.
