MIFFLINBURG -- People marched from Union County to Lycoming County on Sunday to honor those died on September 11, 2001.
About 20 people walked 34.3 miles from Mifflinburg to the Muncy Vally Moose Lodge in Hughesville.
The 11-hour journey through central Pennsylvania was to honor the 343 emergency responders who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Two fire trucks escorted firefighters carrying flags and others who joined the march.
Mifflinburg firefighters say they walked with heavy hearts as they remembered those who bravely went up into the towers, never to see their loved ones again.
“Different parts of the walk had different emotions, different feelings. The people who were out to support us were terrific,” said Larry Brown, Mifflinburg Hose Co.

“If they can go up there knowing that they may not come home, I can for sure walk 34.3 miles to honor those fallen firefighters, EMTs, and police personnel,” said Zachary Houpt, Mifflinburg Hose Co.
Jarred Fry was in sixth grade watching television when he and his classmates saw the towers fall. Now, he's a Mifflinburg Fire Department lieutenant.
He organized this tribute last month, and says was a "daunting task" ..but was important to honor the men and women who lost their lives.
“There’s 343 other guys out there that are not with us anymore that would love to be doing something like this, so it’s the least we can do. There’s never enough we can do to honor them and pay tribute to them,” Fry said.
At the end of the long walk, they gave the flags they carried to the 9/11 Coalition Motorcycle Club.
