After rain cancelled one of the biggest fundraising night's for St. Joseph's Center in Lackawanna County back on July 30, volunteers came up with an idea to help make up for the lost funds.  The cancellation happened one night during the annual St. Joseph's Festival at Marywood University.   It was the first time in 55 years that a night of the festival was ever cancelled.  To help make up donations that are usually raised at the summer event, the Auxiliary of St. Joseph’s Center organized a  "Flea Market Festival."  Newswatch 16's Ryan Leckey scoped out the weekend event on Thursday on Newswatch 16 This Morning.

The Details:
WHEN:  This Saturday, September 10.

TIME:  8 a.m. to Noon

WHERE:  320 South Blakely Street, Dunmore (Use Pine Street entrance)

ITEMS FOR SALE:   Books, General Store ( household items, games, frames, furniture)

Office furniture, gently used purses, craft items, Holiday decorations,  holiday paper goods

Vintage items and hundreds of collectible elephants.

Money raised supports the people and mission of St. Joseph’s Center.  This includes:  "offsetting expenses for programs especially the cost of operating the Maternity homes such as the Mother Infant and Walsh Manor, renovating residential settings for individuals with intellectual disabilities and purchasing new equipment for clients in any of the outpatient therapeutic programs."

IMPORTANT NOTE:  organizers are no longer accepting donation items for this flea market.
