TOBYHANNA STATE PARK -- It was picture-perfect weather for people who spent the holiday weekend in the great outdoors.

"It was awesome," said Tylor Menard of Rhode Island. "We ended up going to the fair that was in town; we went swimming for a while; my parents came down from Canada to meet us, so, yeah, it was nice."

This family from Rhode Island heard the Poconos is a nice place to visit with family so they decided to pack up and give it a shot. They weren't disappointed.

"It was great," said Menard. "We had an awesome time and this place is beautiful."

Park rangers at Tobyhanna State Park tell Newswatch 16 it was another successful holiday weekend with all 140 camping spots were booked.

People from all over came to hike, boat, and hang out by the water, soaking up the sun and enjoying the final days of summer.

"Just being able to hang out all together and spend some time not working," said Elizabeth Farrell of the Bronx, New York.

For people who live out of town, coming to a place like Tobyhanna State Park gets them away from all the city noise and they are happy to be able to close out the summer in a place like this.

A family from the Bronx had a good time entertaining each other around the campfire and over the grill.

"I lived up in Lake George (New York) for 20 years so I am used to being out here. I hate the city so it's nice to come back here," said Bronx resident Edward Kearns.

While people at the state park are sad to see summer go, they are looking forward to watching the leaves change as we fall into autumn.
