MINERSVILLE -- Police are looking for the vandal or vandals who threw bricks into the stained glass window of the English Lutheran Church on Lewis Street in Minersville.

The church in Schuylkill County is still totaling up the cost of the damage.

The damage happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday. Cathy Phillips and Scott Richards were home next door to the church when they heard the sound of shattering glass.

"We heard some crashing and we ran out to see what it was. We saw someone running down the street. We didn't see who it was though or anything like that," Richards said.

Not only did someone throw a brick through one of the church's stain glass windows, neighbors say shortly after police left, someone came back and threw a second brick into the same window.

"It's disgusting, especially to a church," said Phillips.

Police have determined that the bricks came from a vacant house across the street that is under renovation.

Many who live near the church hope the vandals are caught soon.

"I think they should have to pay for it, definitely. Do some sort of community service maybe, but they need to be held responsible for that," Phillips said.

Anyone with information on who did the damage is asked to call Minersville police.
