WILKES-BARRE -- The newest member of the state’s Commonwealth Court is from Luzerne County.
Judge Joe Cosgrove of Forty Fort was sworn in Tuesday afternoon at the Luzerne County Courthouse in Wilkes-Barre.
Cosgrove is an attorney in private practice but was appointed to serve as a common pleas court judge in Luzerne County in 2010 to fill the vacancies created by the Kids for Cash scandal, until full-time judges could be elected the next year.
Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court is an appeals court that rules on public sector legal questions and government regulation. It is considered the state's second highest court, second only to the state supreme court.
Cosgrove was nominated by Governor Tom Wolf and confirmed by the Pennsylvania senate.
