HARRISBURG -- Pennsylvania's newest attorney general is from Lackawanna County.

The state senate confirmed the nomination of Bruce Beemer Tuesday afternoon by a vote of 44-0.

Governor Wolf nominated Beemer, who used to live in Clarks Summit, to replace Acting Attorney General Bruce Castor. Castor took office two weeks ago after Kathleen Kane resigned.

Kane, a Scranton native, was found guilty of leaking secret grand jury information and then lying to cover it up.

Beemer testified against Kane at her trial. He was Kane's first deputy before leaving that office in July.

Beemer will serve out Kathleen Kane's term until January.
