West Hazleton Community Comes Together to Help Flood Victims

WEST HAZLETON -- One community in part of Luzerne County collected items to help victims of the historic flooding in Louisiana.

Firefighters in West Hazleton urged folks to help them stuff the truck on Susquehanna Boulevard Sunday.

The fire department organized the collection drive after the Louisiana fire chief and Hazleton native Jack Jones reached out to them for help.

Folks brought plenty of clothing and other items to send to the thousands of people who lost everything in the devastating floods.

"It is very devastating," said donator Carol Herbinko. "I saw it on the television, and it is so sad. I'm thinking hopefully if that ever happens to me, that the shoe is on the other foot, and people would help us also."

If you would like to help the cause, donations are also being collected at the fire station in West Hazleton.
