SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT -- The final score Sunday night: Mid-Atlantic 2, South Korea 1.

The team from New York is officially the Little League World Champions.

Today, Newswatch16 found several fans who came out just to see them play.

Some came to cheer on their home team.

Others traveled hours, just for the love of the game.

"It's just a really fun family event,” said one game goer.

“I haven’t missed one game yet. I have been here every single game,” said Paulette Fiacco.

Maine-Endwell won the 2016 Little League World Series Championship in Williamsport.

Thousands found a spot on the hill behind Lamade Stadium for the 70th Annual Little League World Series championship game.

This year, the international champ South Korea faced off against the Mid-Atlantic team from New York.

Paulette Fiacco drove two hours from Binghamton, New York to get here - and for good reason. “My nephews are playing in the world series, along with some other great kids that we know.”

“We’ve been cheering for the Mid-Atlantic since they got in it. So we are excited to see them play today,” said Kate Meckbach of Montoursville.

For local fans, knowing the Mid-Atlantic team from New York also played against the Keystone team from Lock Haven is just an added bonus.

“I came here because it could have been my grandson and these boys are representing us also,” said one fan.

"I'm just here watch them, and they did really good,” said Ryan Thompson, who pitches for the Keystone Little League team in Lock Haven.

Keystone Little League won the state championship and was just one game away from playing in the World Series tournament.

Thompson says he had to come and see New York play.

"It just feels good to watch these kids play ball and how far they came. It feels good to have lost by 4 points to the team that one best team in the US,” Thompson added.

“'It’s who they lost to. It was either them or us. So, you can’t get any closer except for being here so,” said Marianna Mikitko of Mill Hall.

Just as quickly as it filled up, Lamade Stadium emptied out.

Again, Mid-Atlantic team won 2- 1 against the international champs South Korea.
