The Spartans are ready to roll again and compete for a league and district title. Quarterback Aaron Austin returns for his senior season. In 2015 Aaron was awesome 600 plus yards on the ground netted 6 scores while 1,800 through the air another 27 touchdowns. Nobody could touch the Spartans offense putting up 44 points a game.
"It's always going to start with the offensive line. We have a couple of holes to fill. We have Sean back and some skill players that he could help lead. If we can put it all together we could pretty much re-create what we did last year," said Aaron.
"We've had a pretty good off-season right now and always when you return your quarterback with Aaron coming back and returning Sean that helps right now because everything starts with your quarterback. So having that luxury is very nice," said Pat Keating.
Junior Chris Bleich is back and hard to miss at 6'7" and 325lbs. He's an imposing figure. He anchors a line that no longer has LJ Wesneski, Chris Reese, Bill Davidson, and Josh Sokoloski but does have game experience.
"How much fun was last year? It was a ride like I wasn't expecting us to go that far I was just enjoying it with my brothers that are off at college now," said Chris.
Valley west does return one of the best backs in the area in senior Sean Judge and his 1,400 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns.
"The seniors are going to have to come together and kind of pick up from where the seniors from last year left off and feed on that and hopefully we end up where we we're last year," said Sean.
We will find out a lot about this Spartans football team in the first 4 weeks of the season. Week 1 it's Jacob Watts and Scranton. Week 2 an improved Mike Brennan football team down in Hazleton.
