WEST HAZLETON — A landlord has been arrested in Luzerne County for allegedly taking rent and a security deposit for an apartment that was condemned almost two years ago.

Margarita Murarescu of West Hazleton was charged Thursday with theft and receiving stolen property.

Court papers show she took $1,400 from two people who planned to move into the apartment in early August on North Broad Street in West Hazleton.

The building was condemned in October of 2014. Court documents show Murarescu may have done the same thing to two other people back in May.

I’m glad this lady got busted, she’s nothing but a thief. Speaking from first hand experience, I rented an apartment from this family way back in 1999. I was young and dumb and gave her rent money in cash with out getting a receipt. She told her husband George that she never got the rent money so I had to pay twice. I knew this hag as soon as I saw her on WNEP. I feel for those people and I’m glad she finally got caught. She’s been involved in these practices for many years.
