Book Bus Makes Stop in Peckville

PECKVILLE -- A book bus took over a gas station in Lackawanna County

Bess the Book Bus spent some time at Santarelli and Sons Oil Citgo Station in Peckville on Wednesday.

It's part of Citgo's mobile literacy program which provides free books to children across the country.

"Our main mission is to build home libraries for kids that don't have access to books in their home so they can identify themselves as readers and to get as many words in their heads as possible," said Jennifer Frances with Bess the Book Bus.

Bess the Book Bus began in Tampa, Florida in 2002. The program gives away more than 50,000 books each year.

About 50 kids stopped by the book bus during its stop in Lackawanna County.
