GILBERT -- People are enjoying the last few days of summer vacation at a fair in the Poconos.

The West End Fair is known to draw quite the crowd at the fairgrounds in Gilbert, and because of the big crowds, the Monroe County sheriff's office is asking parents to take some extra safety precautions. The safety measure doesn't take much work -- just snap a quick picture on your cell phone.

People enjoying everything the 90-year-old tradition has to offer.

"It's very important to have this because there is not much else to do around here, so this kind of brings everyone together to enjoy it," said Lisa Siegfried of Jim Thorpe.

Some first-timers from Texas were taking in all this fair has to offer: food, animals, crafts, and more

"Oh, it seems a little different to us, yes, because the things that are featured are a little different from what we have," said Neva Sackett. "We enjoy going to fairs like this when we are traveling because we get to see something different and what is important in a particular community."

While visitors will see many of the same attractions at the West End Fair, something different this year is a request from the Monroe County Sheriff's department. They are asking people to take pictures of their kids before they come into the fair in case they get lost, it will be easier to try and find them.

Lisa Siegfried took her children's pictures before starting their walk through the fair. She said with three little ones to watch it never hurts to be more cautious.

"Right now, it's not that busy but it gets busy here and I have two young boys and they wander. It's easy to get separated."

Other parents think the idea could save valuable time especially in that type of high-stress situation.

"This way, you know, when you're in a panic, you're not going to remember what your kids have on or you won't think about it anyway, so at least you'll have a picture that is recent," said Kerry Turko of Kunkletown.

Members of the sheriff's department are patrolling so if you have any issues, they are on hand.

To date, there have been no reports of children gone missing here.

The West End Fair continues through Saturday in Gilbert.
