NANTICOKE -- Starting this Sunday, some liquor stores will have new and expanded hours.

There have been several times when Barbara Lindler went to the liquor store in Nanticoke, only to be disappointed.

"I went to open the door and it's like, 'oh, it's Sunday!'"

Meaning the Fine Wine and Good Spirits Store was, like most state-controlled liquor stores, closed Sundays. But no longer!

"That's real good!" said Linder. "Then anybody who wants wine or something to drink, they can get it every day."

A sign on the store's door says new Sunday hours are coming mid-August and the store will be open Sunday 11a.m. until 7 p.m.

"I think it'll be nice for a lot of people," said Matt Houseknecht. "They'll be able to go out and get what they want to drink on Sundays; a lot of people have to do it either Friday or Saturday."

Right now, only about a quarter of the more than 600 wine and spirit stores across the state are opened Sundays. Many people in Nanticoke say it's about time more were opened seven days a week.

"Many times you know you're looking to get something on Sunday or you got to drive all the way to Dallas, so it's going to be a good thing," said Glenn Francisco.
