MOSCOW -- Organizers say a lack of volunteers over the past ten years meant a fair in Moscow couldn't go on.

This year, with volunteers from the North Pocono cultural society, crowds packed Main, Church and Van Brunt streets ready for a weekend of family fun.

"We have over 80 vendors. We have some bands performing, pony rides, and kids activities. We have an art show all up and down the street," said Mera-Beth Moore, a volunteer.

Vendors say the fair brings with it a sense of community -  something missing since the fair left ten years ago.

Jerry Dickson, of J's Creative Ceramics, said this is his first time experiencing the fair. Although he's been practicing his craft for a number of years at other fairs, Dickson likes the atmosphere in Moscow.

"I moved here to Moscow two months ago, and I think its a big boom for the community," said Dickson.

The fair even featured a train from Scranton that dropped people off in the middle of the fair.

The fair used to be held at North Pocono High School, and the move downtown may be a reason the train car is more packed  than usual.

"It seemed like a little difficulty to get people on the train to the bus and back so this seems ideal making it so you can get off the train and go right into the street," said Tim O'Malley, a national park ranger.

Organizers cant wait for next year.

"We hope it'll be bigger and better," said Moore.
