WILKES-BARRE -- A popular food truck and restaurant business has closed abruptly, leaving many people to wonder what happened to "What The Fork?"

At first glance, the "What The Fork" storefront just appears like it's closed for the day, so it comes as a surprise to many to find out this restaurant, along with the food trucks are, in fact, permanently closed.

During a normally busy time of day for "What The Fork" at the location in Wilkes-Barre's Midtown Village, there was no line out the door, or at any of the restaurants after the place abruptly closed, along with its food trucks.

"It's kind of a shock that all the different "What The Fork" activities rolled up and rolled out of town at one time. I think Wilkes-Barre will miss them," said Karla Porter of Ashley.

We're told last Saturday was the business' last day with kitchen equipment being taken out shortly thereafter and its social media presence deleted as well.

The popular food trucks were even featured on "Live with Kelly and Michael" back in 2013 as a part of their "Truckin' Amazing Cook Off."

From everyone we spoke with, it appears the closing wasn't well publicized. In fact, there's still not sign on the restaurant saying it's permanently closed.

"I think it's unfortunate," said Brittany Boote of Wilkes-Barre. "I think downtown should be opening more businesses instead of closing them. I think people will be pretty bummed out. It's sad to see, especially a local business."

Around the corner is" Bee Hive" gift shop and owner Patty Leighton enjoyed having customers from "What The Fork" stopping into her store.

"People would walk by after they'd eat lunch and stop and shop, so for me, it brought business to the store. So for me, it's sad," Leighton said.

The owner has not publicly commented on closing "What The Fork," and he declined to comment for this story.
