POCONO RACEWAY --  Chris Buescher won the shortened Pennsylvania 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup series race Monday afternoon at Pocono Raceway in Monroe County.

The race was marked by drizzly and foggy conditions after the start a little after noon on Monday.

The race was called with 22 laps remaining as thunderstorms moved into the area of the track. The race was red-flagged because of fog.

This is Buescher's first NASCAR win.

Rain on Sunday forced officials at Pocono Raceway to postpone the race.

Slow and steady and bright and early, air dryers made their way around the Tricky Triangle Monday morning at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond.

Another Monday race had to be scheduled at Pocono Raceway after rain washed out Sunday's Pennsylvania 400.

"You can't pick the weather," said Dan Lucas of Bangor.  "We had two weeks of dry and then it rains. Well, that's just the way it goes."

This is the first time in NASCAR history that a race was held on a Monday twice at the same track in the same year.

Mark Curran and his family from Pottsville learned from last month's race they planned some extra time in the Poconos.

"This is a day off of work to come up and see it in case of a rain delay."

According to officials at Pocono Raceway, they don't release the number of fans who stayed the extra day to watch the race, however they did receive a complement from NASCAR on the amount of people who did stay twice this summer.

Fans here aren't surprised.

Others at the track tell us they were impressed by all the work the raceway put into making sure fans got a show.

Although some -- like Joseph Materia from upstate New York -- got nervous around lap 70 when heavy clouds started to roll in. He's happy Mother Nature cooperated.

"Sometimes it rains on Sundays, sometimes we get delayed, sometimes we have races on Sunday or Monday, it all depends on Mother Nature."
