NESQUEHONING -- At a gun range in Carbon County, some hunters were practicing their shot.

Robert Kalb from Lehighton was working on his target shooting. He can't wait for hunting season to begin.

"Oh, it's great. You are out there, especially archery hunting, you're out there by yourself and it's nice and quiet and the woods are still plenty green and it's a lot of fun," said Robert Kalb, Lehighton.

Doe season will be here in just a few months, but now is the time to apply for your license.

Hunters here have been doing it for about two weeks.

The demand is so high that most of Carbon and Schuylkill Counties have already sold out.

"I got mine in early so I hope I get mine," said Kalb.

Officials with the Pennsylvania State Game Commission tell Newswatch 16 the quick sell out isn't a surprise.

This year, Pennsylvania residents only had a week head start over out-of-state hunters to apply for a doe license. Normally it's two weeks.

Hunters here don't seem to mind the change.

Even though you might be out of luck in Carbon County, in Monroe County there is still a little bit of time. At Dunkelburger's, we are told that dozens of people have been coming in looking to apply.

"It's for everyone. Hunting is a privilege for me not a right, so if you want to do it, just as long as you are following the rules, I am happy with it," said Eddie Kiser, archery manager at Dunkelburger's.

Eddie Kiser not only works at Dunkelburger's, but he's also a hunter. He already applied and now just has to wait.

"I'm actually worried because mine haven't cleared yet, so I'm like bugging out hopefully I do get one but we will see," said Kiser.

Both Monroe and Carbon Counties hand out 25,000 permits apiece.
