TOBYHANNA TOWNSHIP -- Work to expand a resort in the Poconos continues on schedule.

Kalahari Resort in the Mount Pocono area may look big now but it's getting bigger by the day.

"Oh, I think it's going to be great. It's going to be a good time. They are making it twice the size, I hear. It's going to be fun," said Robert Jones, Catasauqua.

The number of rooms is nearly doubling.

And the indoor water park itself is also doubling in size to include a wave pool and a near-vertical drop slide.

Work is right on schedule.

"We are already booking rooms for very soon after we open and that's because we have been able to grow these partnerships and relationships with groups as well as businesses," said assistant general manager Greg Sherrill.

If you can't wait for the work to be done, no problem. You can look at the scale model in the lobby. it shows what you will see here next year.

"I was looking at the model out there and it looks like it's going to be fun. We are excited and we will come back again," Jones added.

Guests at Kalahari tell us the nice part about the resort is that there is enough for both young and old and the expansion will create more for people to do.

"It's not too far from our house, so it's nice to get away and we are going to come back. We are having another baby so it's nice to have all ages and it's good for all of us," said Amy Schmall of Catasauqua.

Water attractions and rooms aren't the only part of the expansion. Visitors will also see some new restaurants along with new stores inside the resort.

The work is expected to be complete by March of 2017.
