It's a Wednesday night the first of four games on the summer basketball schedule at the Kingston rec center and director Tony DeMaranville is running the clock.

"The summer league at the Kingston Recreation Center has been running approximately 20 years. How have you been able to do that?  We'll it's a lot of cooperation on everyone's part obviously Greg at the Kingston Rec center he is the head of it and cooperation with them Paul Keating the administrator, and of course the teams that play in the league most importantly we can't have a league unless we have all the teams here," said Tony.

Game one Scranton Prep and Hazleton. Assistant coach Jeff Gregory and head coach Joe Gavio approach the contest with the same message.

"Like anything else in the summer we are always looking to improve our skills and get better as a team so we do take advantage of the summer leagues we play in here and also up in Scranton," said Jeff.

"I 've heard many times that once November starts everybody does the same thing. Players are made in the summer working on their game kids coming up with new chemistry, and kids have to play with each other and a lot of fun in the summer," said Joe.

Alexis Sheeto is preparing for her senior season at Hazleton.

"It's so all the girl's can get chemistry, because we did lose a lot from our team last year and this year we can just get together in the summer," said Alexis.

Morgan Mills from Scranton Prep is only a junior but team chemistry is improving because of time in this league.

"I think it helps us play together a lot more and since we got a new coach it helps us bond a lot more. We're doing really well with him I think," said Morgan.

This use to be an 8 week summer league, but because of the growth and the amount of teams coming here to the Kingston rec center Tony added a 9th week.

"These games are competition? That's important for them? Right? Absolutely, the competition here is very good and what we try to do is match-up the teams and we get great games here every night," added Tony.
