EAST STROUDSBURG -- Walking around in the heat can make anyone tired, but imagine working in it.

Keith Overmyer and his construction crew have been doing just that all week.

"It's hot. It's hot. You gotta stay cool and drink a lot of water and keep one of these around your neck. Stay out of the sun and sun block," said Keith Overmyer, Overmyer Construction.

The crew was putting siding on a building in East Stroudsburg. Overymyer tells us it's difficult to keep cool when you're hauling around all this material. Even his cooling rag couldn't keep him comfortable.

"It's supposed to cool you down, you wet it, wring it out and put it around your neck and it helps for about five minutes, not too long," said Overymyer.

Not far from the construction crew, we found more people working outside at Dansbury Park.

For most people staying cool at the pool can be easy, but for lifeguards, it's a different story. When the pool is packed they can't jump in and take a dip.

The lifeguard stand umbrellas at the pool in East Stroudsburg are currently being repaired.

So Dylan Miller makes sure he gets into the shade when he gets a break.

"It gets pretty hot up there. Especially, we are short on guards so we have to be out a little bit longer than we normally would. Not too long but still about an hour and 15 minutes," said Dylan Miller, lifeguard.

Over at East Stroudsburg University, student workers were out trimming the hedges and cutting the grass.

Trying to beat the heat while getting the job done was difficult for Thaddeus Ohocinski.

"It's been very muggy, and we have just been sweating out here all day. It's not even hot really just really muggy, swampy and buggy and just terrible," said Thaddeus Ohocinski, student worker.

And while working in the beating sun can be tough, these workers plan to embrace it for as long as they can.
