HUGHESVILLE -- Fair season is officially underway, and this year the Lycoming County Fair is one of the first county fairs in our area.

Jazmin Yagle's family own the home next to the Lycoming County fairgrounds.

"I think I mostly play outside and watch the cars go in and out," said Jazmin Yagle.

The 10 year old hopes to attend the fair that starts this week at least once.

"This year Nina said I’m only allowed in the fair once. I guess because she doesn't want that much money wasted," said Yagle.

Now that it's open, organizers expect thousands to show up for the 146th annual event in Lycoming County.

Jazmin's family lets fair goers park on their property. Their lot gets filled.

"I drew park her with a piece of chalk. Of course you won't see it from miles away but hey it's a start," said Yagle.

Not everyone is as lucky as Jazmin and has a place to hide from the heat here at the fairgrounds all week. Others who work and sell things have to find ways to stay cool.

"This is probably the hottest week of the whole year, usually,” said Dianne Hewlett Snyder.

Diane Hewlett has cooked up hot sausage sandwiches at the Lycoming County fairgrounds for years. This is one of the first stops for her during fair season. The Lycoming County fair is usually the first fair of the year in the eastern part of the state.

"We've grown up with them and we have had kids that have worked here. Then they get married and bring their kids back and they bring their kids back. It's fun,” said Diane Hewlett Snyder.

As for Jazmin, she plans on hanging out with her little sister during the fair that runs until July 23 in Hughesville.
