SCRANTON -- Scranton police officers were among a group washing cars in the Electric City Wednesday.

The officers and kids took part in the department's D.A.R.E. Camp to help raise money for a Lackawanna College police cadet who lost everything in a fire.

The campers will learn from the officers all week.

"For me personally, it's a satisfaction to see these kids grow up. This is our 14th year doing the camp and just seeing these kids grow and mature and grow into being good citizens in the future," said Jeffrey Kearney, Scranton police.

The money raised at the car wash will be donated to the police cadet in memory of Scranton Officer John Wilding who was killed in the line of duty one year ago.
