CARBON COUNTY -- As thousands packed into the Beltzville State Park, state police pulled over one car after another.

By 11 a.m., they had issues dozens of citations, and made several arrests.

"At this location alone, we've made a few DUI arrests as well as people driving with suspended licenses," said Trooper Justin Magluilo in Lehighton.

State police as well as other police departments throughout the state plan on patrolling later tonight, and will likely set up checkpoints when many are leaving packed parks like Mauch Chunk Lake Park near Jim Thorpe.

Once people start piling out of these packed parks, state police warn they are checking for more than people just drinking and driving.

"One of the things we are also enforcing that I  want to touch on is child safety seats. We are seeing an increased amount of children that are within the safety parameter that are not secure in child safety seats so we are out here enforcing that as well," said Trooper Magluilo.

Police will not say where people can expect checkpoints or how many officers are out, only warning that for the safety of all they will not hesitate to pull people over.
