(CNN) — Former Vice President Al Gore’s daughter was among 23 people arrested this week during a protest of the West Roxbury Spectra Pipeline in Massachusetts.
Karenna Gore was arraigned in Boston Friday.
Officials say Gore and several others were arrested after lying in the pipeline trench Wednesday in an effort to block construction.
Protest organizers say the demonstrators staged a mass symbolic grave to oppose the pipeline.
According to the New York Times, the protesters refused to move for more than two hours.
Eventually, they were removed.
Organizers say they staged the protest because they are concerned about the pipeline’s potential environmental impacts.
