FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP -- A school district in Luzerne County says it will keep full-day kindergarten and won't cut other programs.
The Crestwood School Board made the decision during a special meeting Thursday night in Mountain Top.
Officials say they were able to keep full-day kindergarten and other programs by saving through staff attrition and other moves.
The district considered eliminating kindergarten to deal with a $1.2 million deficit.
Instead, the board agreed to raise taxes by 2.22 percent. That's an average of about $43 per property owner.
