SCRANTON -- Travelworld in Scranton organizes several trips a year to Ireland, Great Britain, and other various places in Europe.

After the people of the United Kingdom voted in favor of leaving the European Union, the British pound fell to its lowest level against the U.S. dollar since 1985.

Since the so-called "Brexit" vote Travelworld has gotten phone calls from travelers wondering how far the dollar will stretch.

John Madden, the Executive Vice President of Travelworld, believes this will have a positive impact on travel.

"It's actually a big advantage right now if someone is traveling to Great Britain, you would obviously have a lot of money to spend."

In fact, the U.S. dollar has strengthened between 10 and 11 percent against the British pound and now travel officials are saying this is the best time to travel.

Anthony Agostinelli works for CEI International tours. He often helps Travelworld arrange bus tours for travelers visiting Ireland and Britain.

He agrees that now is a good time to go to the United Kingdom.

"People that are booked, no problem whatsoever. People that are looking to book for 2017, now would be a great time to book," says Agostinelli, "Once you're traveling to that part of the world, you'll get a good value for your dollar."

Madden does not see the Brexit vote causing any problems for people planning a vacation to England or Scotland.

However, he did have some advice for travelers.

"If you are even scheduled to travel, you would actually be smart to go to an exchange place and get some exchange right now and you're going to save quite a bit of money."

This is great news for Lisa Miller, who flies weekly across America. She has never been to Europe, but plans to visit there really soon with one goal in mind.

"I wish I could go shopping. It would be dynamite because I would go dashing down the aisles."

Travelworld has a trip planned to Britain, Wales, and Ireland in the next couple of weeks.

The company expects those travelers to save a lot of money.
