PITTSTON -- The owner of the so-called "Trump Truck" that got stuck in Pittston earlier this year went to court Tuesday.

Scranton businessman Bob Bolus came to a magistrate's office in Pittston prepared to fight the $700 ticket his driver received in March. That's when the driver, Kishan Tomczyk, miscalculated a turn, and got the Donald Trump truck stuck on a bridge heading to West Pittston.

Not only did Bolus bring paperwork showing the truck was under the bridge's 20-ton weight limit, but he also brought the truck.

"We want the judge to come out and see that our driver was well within the legal limits and that the citation was unjustified," Bolus explained.

Before walking into the hearing, Tomczyk told Newswatch 16 that Pittston police never weighed the truck and should have not written the ticket.

"It shouldn't even be a case at all," said Tomczyk. "It shouldn't have come to this."

Police agree. Inside the magistrate's office, the officer withdrew the ticket. The magistrate never looked at the truck.

"It's a vindication for a young but seasoned driver, that's all that counts," said Bolus.

Pittston police had no comment but the driver of that Trump Truck had advice for them.

"They can always check or ask. If they're not sure of the weight limit, they could find out before they write the citation," said Tomczyk.

She now looks forward to driving the truck to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July.
