WYSOX TOWNSHIP -- An investigation is underway in Bradford County at Fulmer's Sporting Goods along Route 6 in Wysox. It's where state police say a large amount of firearms were stolen some time Monday morning.

It's the second time in 13 months burglars have stolen guns from this business. In May 2015, 48 handguns were stolen from the store.

Dale Fulmer, the owner of the business estimated that he was out $27,000.

People who live in Bradford County are concerned after the latest string of gun shop burglaries.

"I thought it was kind of disturbing that someone is stealing guns, obviously for most likely to do something bad with them," said John Gartner of New Albany.

The theft at Fulmer's is the third time guns have been stolen from a business in our area in recent days. State police will not say anything about where the guns may be or who could have them.

Over the weekend Sauer's Trading in South Williamsport was hit. Police here aren't saying how many weapons were stolen.

A day before the burglary at Sauer's Trading troopers say 36 guns were stolen from GNR Sporting Goods near Mansfield.

"I don't believe that they would use it against the public. If it's a terrorist organization or something like that, but something is going on and it's not right," John Kerin of Towanda said.

Towanda borough is just across the river from Wysox Township.

Police here say they're concerned knowing a number of guns were stolen.

"There's always a concern with that, a large number of handguns illegally being taken in or out on the street. Obviously it's not for legal use," Towanda borough police chief, Randy Epler said.

Linda Kerin and her family are also concerned that guns are getting into the hands of criminals.

"It is alarming because there's a lot of people out there who are using guns improperly and guns by themselves are not the danger. It's the people behind the guns. If somebody is stealing the guns it's the people that are going to be causing problems," Linda Kerin said.

Police have not said if any of these burglaries are connected. There is also no word if any surveillance pictures have been obtained.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Mansfield or Towanda or police in South Williamsport.
