WILKES-BARRE -- Looking for a good book to read on your summer vacation? There are over 50,000 books to choose from at an annual book sale in Luzerne County.

You know it's time for the Friends of Osterhout Free Library Annual Book Sale when there's a large tent right next to the library in Wilkes-Barre.

At least 50,000 books are for sale for this upcoming week. It may seem like a lot, but the library is prepared.

“They’ll be bringing them out throughout the sale. So no matter what, they’ll be fresh books every single day,” said Sandra Kobos the Circulation Public Services Coordinator.

The books from this sale will help to finance the different departments like the summer reading programs.

The sale has a large selection with over 70 categories. Every Wednesday, the Friends of Osterhout sort out the library's massive 75,000 books by putting them in correct categories.

This sale has everything from biography and cookbooks to fiction and adult novels.

It’s great for book collectors like Megan McHugh from Luzerne.

“I’m a huge Steven King fan trying to complete my collection. I probably have 40 some books,” she said.

Michael Brown of Wilkes-Barre has been going to this library for seven years. Just having a place where he can go and learn about the world means everything to him.

“I thank God for the place because it’s open for anyone in the public. I can get any book or anything I need,” he said.

The library's circulation director says parents can find a large selection of contemporary children’s books at the 40th annual sale.

Starting Monday, the book sale will offer DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks. Admission is free. The book sale runs through June 25.
