CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP -- Family members of a woman found dead after a wreck described Chrissy Singer as a free spirit, taken away too soon.

Police report that Singer died while driving on Route 209 in Brodheadsville. Her car went down a densely wooded area Tuesday and stayed there undiscovered for almost a day.

Family members say she was on her way home to Kunkelstown before the accident. When her family didn't hear from her, they began a search.

After a 24-hour search, a passerby noticed her vehicle in a ditch and called authorities.

Singer's sister, Cheryl Matase told Newswatch 16 when she learned her sister was missing, she went to the last place she might have been but couldn't find her. Matase tried using binoculars, stopping every 100 feet,  hoping to catch a glimpse of Singer.

"It took a really long time, very long time to not find her," said Cheryl Matase.

Masate and Chrissy's daughter Briana say losing Chrissy is the hardest thing imaginable.

"Worst night you can imagine, terrible, horrible. We were desperate and helpless." said Matase.

Now Eugene Singer, Briana, and Cheryl are still trying to find closure, but they say they just want Chrissy to be remembered.

"She doesn't want anyone to be miserable and no one is going to be. We're going to love her forever and keep her in her thoughts and in our hearts," said Eugene Singer.

The Monroe County coroner say Chrissy Singer died of a heart attack before the crash.
