HAZLETON -- The Hazleton Area School District is close to finalizing next year's school schedule. The district has already had one vote this week for a 4 day school week for three months out of the year and half day kindergarten.
Many parents in the Hazleton area don't want their kids unsupervised and hanging out in the street. That includes Nancy Gruver. She has four kids in the district and is still unsure where they will be on the extra days off next school year.
"I'm lucky that I don't have to work full-time, but those who do, I feel really bad for them," said Gruver.
Places like the YMCA and dozens of other daycares are working to give parents options.
Busy Bee Daycare in Hazleton is bracing to double the number of kids it cares for next year and is working on a special plan for parents affected by the new schedule.
The YMCA is also working on a plan to accommodate the thousands of kids affected by the new school schedule.
