ORWIGSBURG -- With about 50 dead, the Orlando Massacre--now the deadliest mass shooting in American history--adds to the list of mass shootings.

There's now a strong feeling that this particular shooting may have been prevented.

Hillary Clinton, a vocal proponent for gun control, Tweeted, "If the FBI is watching you for suspected terrorist links, you shouldn't be able to just go buy a gun with no questions asked."

The topic of gun control is always a touchy one, but many for and against it are uniting around one question: how was a man interviewed by the FBI three times for terrorist ties able to walk into a gun store and walk out with a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun?

"We run a background check using their driver's license," said Joshua Shamonsky.

Shamonsky is the owner of Shakey's Gun Shop in Orwigsburg. He showed us the process of purchasing guns like those used in the Sunday morning shooting.

It's all the same process. You fill out a form with 15 questions and submit to a background check that looks up state and federal records.

"It takes 10 to 20 minutes," added Shamonsky.

The shooter in Orlando passed his background check despite being on the FBI radar and was able to  legally purchase his weapons days before the shooting.

Shakey's Gun Shop owner believes in the background process currently in place but still questions how this happened.

"It does concern me because it is my livelihood, and also when we see someone who seems suspect, we do deny them pretty much on the spot because we don't want to be liable," Shamonsky added.

The FBI has confirmed it watch the Orlando shooter, Omar Mateen, for 10 months in 2013. The FBI even confirmed he has some ties to people involved in past terror attacks.
