EAST STROUDSBURG -- With beach chairs and pool noodles in hand, families came ready to take a dip in the Dansbury Park Pool.
Those plans quickly changed after they realized the pool was not open for business.
"It's a little disappointing, but it's a little cool out, too, so it's not like it's 98 degrees," said Rebecca Evans.
Rebecca Evans from Allentown is visiting her niece and nephew who live in Swiftwater. The group was surprised to see a sign hanging up near the pool entrance saying the pool is closed until further notice due to operational and staffing issues.
The pool was scheduled to open this past weekend.
"It's going to be sad that it doesn't open, and I'm probably going to have to go on Google and find a pool that's open," said Caitlin Capizzi of Swiftwater.
Until further notice, the door will remain locked. The news is disappointing news to people who were looking forward to the opening and now find someplace else to cool off.
According to the borough manager, a new pool manager needs to be hired and some other operational issues need to be worked out.
Alicia James and her daughter just moved to East Stroudsburg. They hope the issues get resolved soon.
"This is the only thing really for my kids to do around here and they have been looking at the pool seeing the slides," said Alicia James of East Stroudsburg.
"I feel bad for them. You know, we were saving up to buy passes, but now I'm glad we didn't buy them," said Kim Cobb of East Stroudsburg.
No date has been set for the opening of this pool but officials hope to get a new manager on board soon.
In the meantime, season passes for this pool will be honored at Stroudsburg Municipal Park.
