Try A Tri

Triathlons!  They're starting to pop up all over the place as summer nears.  The races are fun to watch and if you're ready to leave the sidelines and try out the swim, bike and run event for yourself,  Newswatch 16's Ryan Leckey is tackling tips to get started.

Newswatch 16 This Morning teamed up with a group of triathletes at Strive Multisport in Harveys Lake.  A triathlon involves a swim, bike, and run and depending on the structure of the race, the event can be done with different distances or as a team.    "Strive" recently opened and specializes in endurance training.  When it comes to trying a Tri, workers at "Strive" suggest:

  1. Get involved with a community.  Find a group of triathletes in your neighborhood to motivate each other and share training tips.
  2. When it comes to the distances in a triathlon, "go short, before going long.”  Ease your way into the sport.
  3. Have a training plan!
  4. Don’t compete with others, just challenge yourself.
