CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP -- The noise coming from bridge work along Route 715 near Brodheadsville is causing some disruption among neighbors. So much so, they say they can feel their houses vibrate from the work.

"It's extremely difficult. It's very loud and you can feel the couch shaking in the house," said Lisa Clarke.

Clarke lives just a few feet from where the bridge in Chestnuthill Township is being replaced.

Workers are currently driving beams 100 feet in the ground, and starting the work in the early hours of the morning.

The noise is causing a disruption for this family, with two little ones inside.

"We do have to run inside because it's so loud that we can't actually enjoy being outside," said Clarke.

Work to replace this bridge started just a few weeks ago and is expected to take two and a half months.

The work is part of a $900 million statewide project that will replace more than 500 bridges over three years.

The sound is quite loud and neighbors tell us it's also quite disruptive. They understand the bridge work needs to be done, but they also hope the banging stops soon.

"By the time they set the crane up and get everything ready, they start pounding at about 8 a.m. So you are having your breakfast and your coffee listening to that," said Dave Smith.

Other neighbors who live nearby the repair action are living with the noise for now. They look forward to the completion.

"You get used to it, obviously, because you have no choice. They have a job to do also. I understand that too, so you know," said Smith.

The worst of the noise isn't expected to last for the duration of the project.

Neighbors were told it should stop by the end of the week, if not sooner.
