TAMAQUA -- More than 20 cars and trucks were damaged in the last two weeks, but police believe they've caught the vandals, adding they admitted to it all. But now police and the victims are admitting the vandals weren't who they expected.

For weeks, people in the Tamaqua area have been waking up in the morning, walking to their car or truck, only to notice their side view mirrors smashed.

On Brown Street, nearly every car on the block has been damaged. Police believe a 21 year old was driving a car while a 15 year old used a cane to hit side-view mirrors throughout the Tamaqua area.

"Officers on Saturday night at a quarter to 12, were able to locate that vehicle and subsequently two people were questioned and arrested," said Tamaqua Police Chief Rick Weaver.

The chief admits he was surprised one of the admitted vandals is a 21-year-old Misericordia University student, someone the chief believes should have known better than take his younger cousin out for a ride to do all the damage.

"They didn't give any reason why it was done. It's senseless, completely senseless," added Chief Weaver.

Police plan on citing both the 21 year old and the 15 year old with criminal mischief and cite them for each vehicle vandalized. They will be required to pay restitution.
