KINGSTON -- More than 100 young athletes came out for a special football camp in Luzerne County.

The inaugural Charlie D. Wysocki Football Camp was held at Wyoming Seminary Nesbitt Field in Kingston Saturday.

Football players grades seven through 12 participated in the free camp. More than a dozen coaches from local high schools and colleges donated their time.

Organizers say hosting the camp is Wysocki's dream, and he's so glad he could give back to the area's youth through his favorite sport.

"We feel very special about the camp. The coaches that have come out are wonderful, wonderful group of coaches, very talented, very intense group. It's great for the kids, great leadership. I'm very impressed by the camp. The camp is outstanding. And it's just the first year, so in years to come I think it's going to grow," said Dr. Mark Sobel, a camp sponsor.

Wysocki struggles with bipolar disorder, so the camp also aims to raise awareness for mental illness.
