POCONO RACEWAY -- It was a wet start to the weekend of racing in the Poconos as practice laps Friday came to a halt after rain started.

Fans started planning for what to do if the Sunday's NASCAR race is pushed back to Monday.

There weren't too many roars of car engines on the racetrack. Instead, it was the sound of jet dryers trying to clear away some of the rain from the track.

In the infield, thousands of NASCAR fans have already set up shop like Teresa Sousa and her family and friends.

"Today is kind of eh but we're going to make the best of it and the fog. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, and we like to come here.  There's parties at night. Hopefully Sunday's race will take place because it's a lot of fun," Sousa said.

Kim Pinkowski is here to enjoy her first Nascar race -- hopefully! Otherwise, she has to go back to New York on Sunday night.

"I'm hoping it doesn't. It's too exciting to know what we'll miss on Monday."

But for many fans we spoke with, they plan on it raining every year for at least some part of the weekend.

Jerry Klump has been coming out to the racetrack since the early 1980s so he knows what to expect, and how to plan ahead for the unexpected when it comes to the weather.

"That's why I take Monday off, just in case. But over the years, I think we've only had one race that runs on a Monday," Klump said "But always prepare for it."

As of right now, the race is still scheduled to take place on Sunday at Pocono Raceway.
