MONTGOMERY — Two twin sisters are graduating from high school and they are doing it in an amazing way.

“We’ve talked about it, we’ve said how did we do this and people ask us, how did you have such good kids and we don’t know. We really don’t know. If we could bottle it, we’d sell it,” said Todd Winder of Lycoming County.

Todd and his wife, Rebecca couldn’t be more proud of their daughters. They have three, all 14-months apart.

Emily is the oldest. Then, there are the identical twins: Amy and Gabriella. The twins graduated from Montgomery Area Junior/Senior High School Friday night.

“We took a lot of the same classes and stuff, we kind of were very independent, but it’s very cool I think that we were able to go through all this together,” said Gabriella Winder, who is the youngest twin by about two minutes.

Here’s the thing, the girls have always been close and competitive. And so, separated by only tenths of a point, they graduated at the top of their class. Gabriella was the valedictorian and Amy was the salutatorian.

“It’s coming a full circle. We started this life together, we’re ending this era of life together,” said Amy Winder.

What makes this story even more unbelievable is the fact that Emily, the girl’s older sister was valedictorian at Montgomery Area last year.

Now, she’s a student at Georgia Tech.

“It’s just kind of settling I guess to just kind of hear, “Oh my gosh, my sisters did this really cool thing.’ It’s very surprising but not surprising, I guess,” laughed Emily.

On stage, the twins gave their speeches back to back. It was an emotional time for parents Todd and Rebecca. They say this fall, it will be even tougher.

Gabriella will go to the University of Pittsburgh and Amy goes to Penn State. They will be separated for the first time since they were born.

“Very emotional. I’m not looking forward to the fall when I have an empty nest. Each of them, they’re all going to be going their separate ways. I mean I’m sad yet I’m happy for them,” said Rebecca Winder.

The Winders say they know their girls, all three, will remain close and go on to do even more amazing things.

“I’ve always joked that they were either going to fix the world or rule it, so I think that’s what’s going to happen with at least one or maybe all of them. They’re either going to make a hell of a difference of they’re going to take over,” said Todd Winder.
