STROUDSBURG -- A worker in Monroe County district attorney's office is accused of harboring a fugitive.

Maureen Egley, the director of victim services for Monroe County, along with her husband Richard, both of Stroud Township, were arraigned Friday on charges of providing police with false information, criminal conspiracy, and hindering apprehension. It's all because they allegedly helped their son avoid his probation officer.

Maureen and Richard Egley weren't too excited to see our cameras outside after the two were arraigned.

Maureen Egley works in the Monroe County district attorney's office and is in charge of helping victims deal with court appearances.

Egley's son Sean was wanted on charges related to violating his parole.

Sean Egley has previously been arrested for burglary and drug-related charges.

According to investigators, Sean Egley was staying at his parents' house at a development near East Stroudsburg for months before he was finally arrested in December. He is currently serving time in a state prison near Harrisburg.

Neighbors told investigators that Sean Egley avoiding officers and staying at his parents' house was the, "worst kept secret."

While the district attorney's office had no comment on the matter, they did tell Newswatch 16 several days ago that Maureen Egley is on leave from her job as director of victim services.

Because of the potential conflict of interest, the case is being handled by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office.

Both Richard and Maureen Egley were released on their accord while they wait for a preliminary hearing.
