POCONO TOWNSHIP -- Veterans and active military members got a special treat at Camelbeach Waterpark. Families were given free admission all weekend long. The park even held a memorial service to remember those who gave their lives.

It wasn't your typical day the waterpark near Tannersville. It was a day to remember those who served our country, while also thanking those who continue to serve, like United States Army Reserve Specialist Kevin Jiorle from New Jersey.

“It's phenomenal. I'm really appreciative of what they do for us and everyone around. All weekend long we were able to get in for free and they are honoring us and it's not only about the guys who are active, but today is about the guys that we lost," Jiorle said.

A memorial service was held in the center of the park. Flags flew at half-staff as a guitarist strummed the national anthem. Onlookers were silent as they paid respects to the fallen.

"It is definitely worth it, and it's very beautiful on their behalf of honoring all the veterans,” said Jesus Torna, a veteran.

Once the service was over, the crowd continued back around the lazy river and down the water slides.

People who decided to spend the holiday at Camelbeach tell us there is enough for both kids and adults, so whether you want to hang out by the wave pool or go down the slides, there is fun for everyone.

The Besket family from Moscow decided to take their little swimmer out for some water park fun. With a day off from work, they thought Camelbeach would be the perfect family getaway.

"It's excellent, but chasing her around it can surely be tough," said Ryan Besket.

"We did it last year and it was so much fun, and we both have the day off, so it was nice to come up and enjoy the lazy river. She loves it. That's where she takes her naps," Brooke Besket said.

With a new attraction set to open in a few weeks, people were excited to kick off the summer season a little early, while keeping cool under the hot sun.
