KIDDER TOWNSHIP -- Among the trees and trails at Hickory Run State Park near Albrightsville, hundreds of campers unloaded their RVs and sat around fires with family and friends.

The Vincent family from Long Pond comes every Memorial Day weekend.

"It’s so nice. The kids love it. They ride their bikes around the circle all the time and you don't have to worry about them here," Deanne Vincent said.

All of the nearly 400 campsites were sold out at the park, but Timothy Vincent isn't surprised. He thinks it's great lots of people come back each year.

"You do see the same people coming here every year, so yeah, it's kind of like a community almost," he said.

Campers tell us the reason they keep coming back to Hickory Run is because there is enough for both adults and kids to do. Many we spoke to like to go hiking on the trails.

Casey DeAngelis from Delaware visits this state park every chance she gets. She hiked the trails all weekend.

"Hickory Run is just really fun to go to. There are a lot of things nearby like Bushkill and the boulder canyon is really fun. It's very family and pet oriented," said DeAngelis.

A family party was the reason a group from Allenwood set up camp. They enjoy being in the great outdoors with one another.

"It's beautiful and convenient to her family. It's a halfway point, so it gives us a chance to get away and get into nature and be able to visit family as well," said Chris Bennett of Allenwood.

Other campers are sad to see the holiday weekend end but look forward to more visits throughout the summer.
