JESSUP -- For more than a century, thousands have descended on Jessup for the annual Saint Ubaldo Festival.

"It's hard to put it into words," said Brook Brunozzi of Old Forge. Brunozzi has helped run for Saint Anthony for 40 years. "It's just incredible. I love the day! I live for the day!"

Hundreds like Brook Brunozzi sprint through the streets with statues of Saint Ubaldo, Saint George, and Saint Anthony high in the sky.

It all resembles a similar festival that originated in Gubbio, Italy in the year 1155. As the story goes, those three saints saved the city during the crusades. Many immigrants from Gubbio immigrated and settled in Jessup.

"Now we have our grandchildren participating in it and we still have family in Gubbio so it's really from our hearts that we continue this tradition," said Jeanette Mariani, the Mayor of Jessup.

For those who haven't seen this race first-hand, people come from all over, including Washington D.C. and Chicago just to take part in the weekend festivities.

"Carry on a tradition and pass it on to the family," said Jeff Cruciani of Peckville.

All knowing that Saint Ubaldo will be first to cross the finish line.

The festival in Jessup continues until Sunday.
