SCRANTON -- A township supervisor from Lackawanna County was in court Friday, accused of sexually abusing four children.

Three of those four children took the stand at the preliminary hearing.

David Button was charged in February with child sex crimes. He's accused of exposing himself in front of four children and molesting one of them.

Button hid from our cameras as he left Lackawanna County Court in Scranton.

Button is a township supervisor for West Abington Township, a community of only about 250 people.

Prosecutors say Button came in contact with his alleged victims through his former job as an independent van driver with the Lackawanna Trail School District. His wife was a therapeutic support worker with the district.

Both no longer work there.

Button is accused of exposing himself in front of four children and molesting one of them, a 12-year-old girl with special needs.

Another 12-year-old alleged victim described on the stand a time when Button walked in on her when she was in the shower. Button himself was not wearing any clothes.

The 12-year-old girl said, "He told me to keep it a secret because he had a whole bunch of guns in his room."

Lackawanna County's new therapy dog was in the courtroom as each of the children testified against Button.

"A case such as this would be concerning in any case where you have a child involved in something like this, but it's more concerning, more egregious when they're special needs children. But I really think that they know it's important to tell the truth and they told their story today and they did really well," said Lackawanna County ADA Jamie Davis.

At the end of the hearing, a magistrate decided that there is enough evidence for the case to move on to trial.

Button's defense attorney says that Button is still a West Abington Township Supervisor though he hasn't attended any meetings since his arrest.
