NANTICOKE -- A gun shop in Luzerne County was raided Tuesday morning by federal officials.

The FBI and Homeland Security executed a search warrant at D & R Sports Center in Nanticoke around 10 a.m.

Federal agents hauled out boxes labeled evidence from D & R Sports Center to an unmarked van after delivering a search warrant to the owner.

The raid at the fishing and hunting store on West Union Street in Nanticoke got the attention of many people in the area walking by.

"I'm shocked! I just walked by and I’m like, wow!" said John Jones of Nanticoke.

The U.S. Attorney’s office would only tell Newswatch 16 that there's another probe into the store. The Department of Commerce, Homeland Security, and state police all helped with the raid.

D & R used to be owned by 53-year-old Mark Komoroski. He was arrested in 2008 and later sentenced to federal prison for trying to smuggle military equipment to Russia. He was released in December 2012.

One woman who lives on West Union Street knew Mark when he was growing up.

"Real nice guy. I don't know what happened. I just feel sorry for the parents,” she said.

It's not clear if Komoroski still works at the store, but court papers show he is employed at a "sporting goods store," and that because he's a convicted felon, he should not have any connection to firearms.

Newswatch 16 found some of the evidence hauled away from the store included ammunition.

A man who says he's the father-in-law of the store's owner was surprised by the raid. He said the owner is running an honest business.

The federal investigation will determine whether or not that's the case. Homeland Security did not arrest anyone, but officials say there could be criminal charges down the road.

D & R Sports Center reopened Tuesday afternoon after the agents left.
